In the US, you become eligible for Medicare when you turn sixty-five years old. Those younger than sixty-five may also qualify for the said program if they have long-term debilitating conditions. Those with ESRD may also qualify. This social insurance program from the Federal government reimburses the private practices of doctors, nursing care facilities, hospices, and home health care agencies for the services they provided to Medicare members. The said program was established in 1965 through the Social Security Act. It is managed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services of the United States.
